Timing

Timing is something that is extremely important to all of us every single day. You use it for almost everything from the "time" your alarm wakes you up, to the "time" you take to get ready for the day, to the "time" it takes for your coffee maker to brew, to the "time" you must be at work, to the "time"  you have for lunch, to the "time" you get off, to the "time" you have to be at Pilates, to the "time" you eat dinner, to the "time" you go to sleep. When you think about it, life is truly all about timing. And for the most part, we can control it. We have the ability to choose what time we set our alarm and how many times we snooze it. We can get super organized in advance so that we can get things done in a timely manner when we need to. But it is the other times in life that we cannot control that can be very difficult to deal with.  Take Pilates for example...there is a timing in which your muscles gain enough strength to do a new exercise. There is also a timeline for how your body begins to change and evolve as you put in the effort. Of course, we can be in control of our body by using our mind to help it along the way. But we then have to allow our bodies their own time to reciprocate the love and attention we give it. On a deeper level there is the timing of life and death. We do not get to perfectly time the birth of a child. With today's technology, we are able to get pretty dang close. But there is still always a chance something can change in a split second. Furthermore, we do not get to time the death for ourselves or others. Fortunately, for these times and all times, God is in control and has already timed everything according to his perfect plan.  Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."   We are in control of everything, but only to a certain extent. Therefore, we have to put the work in ourselves in both life (and on the Reformer / mat) to prepare for the reward that lies ahead.
